Which brands are part of the Zwiesel Glas portfolio?
The Zwiesel Fortessa Group brings together a range of brands covering various areas of high-quality tableware. These include Zwiesel Glas, Schott Zwiesel, Fortessa and Eisch. Together, they aim to offer glassware, crockery and cutlery from a single source, meeting the demands of both private and professional customers in terms of quality, design and functionality.

Zwiesel Glas stands for premium and handcrafted glassware that meets the highest standards of design, craftsmanship and sensory experience. The brand is aimed at connoisseurs and the upmarket catering sector.

Schott Zwiesel offers high-quality crystal glassware for everyday use and professional applications. The collections combine modern design, functionality and durability, making it particularly easy to enter the world of premium glassware.

With Fortessa, Zwiesel is expanding its tableware range to include high-quality crockery, cutlery and other tabletop products.

Eisch complements the brand portfolio with innovative glass solutions and glass finishes.

What is TRITAN® crystal glass and what makes it different?
TRITAN® crystal glass is Zwiesel Glas’s specially developed premium crystal glass. Since its launch in 2002, it has combined the highest level of brilliance with exceptional durability and forms the basis for almost the entire range.

Compared to conventional crystal glass, TRITAN® crystal glass is characterised by particularly high resistance to breakage, scratches and dishwasher use. At the same time, the glass remains permanently brilliant and clear – even with frequent use and numerous washes.

Another advantage: TRITAN® crystal glass is free from lead, cadmium and BPA. It therefore meets the highest food safety standards and offers a sustainable alternative to traditional lead crystal. Furthermore, the glasses are made largely from recycled glass sourced from the company’s own production, thereby conserving valuable resources.

Are Zwiesel glasses dishwasher-safe?
Yes. All machine-made glasses made from TRITAN® crystal glass are specially designed for everyday use and are particularly dishwasher-safe. Even after many washes, they retain their high brilliance, transparency and characteristic sound.

The hand-blown ranges made from TRITAN® crystal glass are also generally dishwasher-safe. However, due to their particularly delicate and thin-walled construction, we recommend handling them with care when loading and unloading the dishwasher.

To ensure the longest possible lifespan, Zwiesel Glas recommends loading the glasses so that they stand securely, avoiding contact between the glasses and using a suitable dishwashing programme for glasses. Further care instructions can be found here.

Are Zwiesel glasses lead-free?
Yes. All TRITAN® crystal glasses from Zwiesel Glas are manufactured entirely without lead. Zwiesel Glas has not used lead or other heavy metals in its glass production since 1991.

As a result, the glasses are free from lead, cadmium and BPA and meet the highest food safety standards. At the same time, they offer the brilliant appearance and clear sound of high-quality crystal glass – without the drawbacks of traditional lead crystal.

Furthermore,
TRITAN® crystal glass impresses with its greater impact resistance, lighter weight and significantly better dishwasher resistance than conventional lead crystal glass.

Which glasses are best suited to which wines?
The shape of a wine glass has a significant influence on how aromas unfold and how a wine is perceived on the palate. That is why Zwiesel Glas develops glass shapes specifically tailored to different grape varieties and wine styles. A finely crafted rim, thin-walled bowls and harmonious proportions ensure that the bouquet, flavour and texture can unfold to their full potential.

Full-bodied red wines benefit from larger bowls, which provide ample space for oxygen and bring out complex aromas to their best advantage. Elegant white wines reveal their freshness and aromatics particularly well in slightly smaller glass shapes. For sparkling wines, special glasses with an integrated effervesence point ensure that the carbonation is retained for longer and a fine, even perlage develops.

If you enjoy a variety of wine styles, Zwiesel Glas offers both grape-variety-specific wine glasses and versatile all-round glasses for a wide range of occasions – from a relaxed evening at home to a festively laid table.

Would you like to find out more about the right glass shape for different types of wine?
In our comprehensive guide ‘Which wine glass for which wine?, you’ll find practical recommendations on grape varieties, wine styles and the best choice of glass. This makes it easy for you to discover the perfect wine glass for your favourite wine and get the most out of every moment of enjoyment.

What solutions does Zwiesel Glas offer for the catering and hospitality sectors?
Zwiesel Glas has been developing high-quality glassware for the professional catering and hospitality sectors for decades. Renowned restaurants, top-class hotels, bars and international hospitality providers rely on the combination of sophisticated design, high functionality and exceptional durability. Today, Zwiesel Glas products are used in over 160 countries worldwide and are highly regarded by numerous Michelin-starred restaurants, luxury hotels and leading wine experts.

For professional use, the high break resistance, excellent dishwasher resistance and lasting brilliance of TRITAN® crystal glass are particularly crucial. At the same time, Zwiesel Glas offers an extensive range featuring specially developed glass shapes for wine, sparkling wine, cocktails, spirits, water and many other beverages.

As part of the Zwiesel Fortessa Group, the range is complemented by high-quality crockery, cutlery and other tableware. This enables the creation of comprehensive table concepts for the modern hospitality industry – all from a single source.

Are Zwiesel glasses made in Germany?
Yes. Zwiesel Glas’s main production site and corporate headquarters have been located in Zwiesel in the Bavarian Forest since 1872 – a region with a centuries-old tradition of glassmaking. This is where both high-quality machine-made crystal glassware and exclusive hand-blown artisan glassware are produced.

Zwiesel Glas combines traditional craftsmanship with state-of-the-art manufacturing technology and continuously invests in innovation and its operations in Germany. The majority of production takes place directly in Zwiesel and meets the highest quality standards.

For selected mouth-blown ranges, Zwiesel Glas also has its own workshop in Hungary. Development, quality management and expertise in glassmaking remain closely linked to the Zwiesel site.

How do I properly care for crystal glasses?
To ensure that crystal glasses retain their brilliance over time, careful care is recommended. Zwiesel Glas’s TRITAN® crystal glasses are particularly dishwasher-safe and retain their clarity and shine even after many washes.

To ensure the longest possible lifespan, glasses should be arranged in the dishwasher so that they do not touch one another. A gentle wash cycle and a suitable washing-up liquid help to clean the glasses without damaging the material. After the wash cycle, it is advisable to open the dishwasher door as soon as possible to allow moisture to escape.

Particularly delicate, hand-blown glasses should be handled with care, despite being dishwasher-safe. When loading and unloading the dishwasher, as well as when polishing, it is advisable to handle them gently to avoid mechanical stress. You can find all care instructions here.

Does Zwiesel Glas offer bespoke engraving and personalisation?
Yes. Zwiesel Glas offers a personalised laser engraving service for selected glasses. Whether as a personal gift or for a special occasion – a personalised engraving adds a unique touch to your glass.

The engraving configurator guides you step by step through the design process. You can choose from various symbols – for example, for weddings, birthdays, Valentine’s Day or births – and personalise your glass with up to two lines of text. Finally, there are various fonts to choose from, ensuring your engraving perfectly suits your occasion. A preview shows you the result as you design.

Many popular ranges, such as PureVivid SensesVervino and Tulip, are available with engraving in selected designs. Once you’ve added the engraving, you can still edit or remove it in your basket. Please note that engraved or personalised glasses are made to order for you and are therefore excluded from the right of withdrawal or returns.

Would you like to find out more about our engraving options?
On the ‘Engraving’ page, you’ll find all the information on personalisation, the engraving configurator and an overview of the glasses available for engraving. There, you can easily customise your chosen glass.

Where can I buy Zwiesel glasses?
Zwiesel glassware is available via the official Zwiesel Glas online shop and from selected specialist retailers. You can also find the products in numerous department stores and at premium retail partners both in Germany and abroad.

Internationally, Zwiesel Glas is now represented in over 160 countries. Well-known retail partners include KaDeWe in Berlin, Harrods in London, Galeries Lafayette in Paris, El Corte Inglés in Spain and Macy’s in New York.

The official online shop offers the full range, including the latest collections, new products and exclusive ranges.

How sustainable is Zwiesel Glas’s production?
Sustainability is an integral part of Zwiesel Glas’s corporate philosophy. Right from the manufacturing stage, the company relies on resource-efficient processes, modern production technologies and the continuous improvement of its environmental performance.

A key component is the TRITAN® crystal glass, developed in-house. Around 60 per cent of each glass is made from recycled glass from the company’s own production. Production waste is completely remelted and reintroduced into the manufacturing process. This saves valuable raw materials and energy.

Since 2012, Zwiesel Glas has also been using innovative oxy-fuel technology. By using pure oxygen instead of ambient air, CO₂ emissions have been reduced by around 30 per cent and nitrogen oxide emissions by around 80 per cent. This is complemented by heat recovery, predominantly FSC®-certified packaging, biodegradable shipping materials and an ISO 14001-certified environmental management system.

Thanks to these measures, Zwiesel Glas ranks among the most environmentally friendly crystal glass manufacturers in Europe, combining the highest product quality with the responsible use of resources.
